Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding electronic agreement between you ("you", "User") and Manzil ("we", "us", "our", "the App", "the Service"), operated from India. By creating an account, downloading the Manzil application, or otherwise using the Service or the website at manzildating.in (the "Site"), you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy and our Child Safety Standards. These Terms constitute an "electronic record" within the meaning of the Information Technology Act, 2000 ("IT Act 2000") read with the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 ("IT Rules 2021"). No physical, electronic or digital signature is required to make these Terms enforceable against you. If you do not agree to any part of these Terms, you must not use Manzil.

2. Eligibility & account terms

Manzil is a serious-intent, marriage-minded dating service available only to natural persons aged 18 years or older who are legally competent to enter into a contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872. By using Manzil you represent and warrant that:

• You are at least 18 years of age. Users below 18 are strictly prohibited and accounts found to belong to minors will be deleted immediately under our Child Safety Standards and section 67B of the IT Act, 2000.
• You are not currently legally married, unless your jurisdiction expressly permits otherwise and you have disclosed your status truthfully in your profile.
• You are not a person barred from receiving services under the laws of India or any other applicable jurisdiction, and your name does not appear on any sanctions list maintained by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, the United Nations, or the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
• You will maintain only one (1) Manzil account. Duplicate, secondary, parody or impersonating accounts will be removed without notice.
• You will provide accurate, current and complete information at registration and keep your profile information truthful at all times.
• You will keep your login credentials confidential and accept full responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account.

3. Acceptable use

You agree to use Manzil only for its intended purpose: to meet other consenting adults for serious, marriage-minded dating. You agree not to do any of the following, each of which is also prohibited content or activity under Rule 3(1)(b) of the IT Rules 2021:

• Impersonation — pretend to be another person, use someone else's photographs, edit your photographs to misrepresent your appearance, lie about your age, marital status, education, employment, religion, caste, location or income.
• Harassment — stalk, threaten, abuse, intimidate, sexually harass, dox or otherwise harass any other user, on or off the Service, including the use of casteist, communal, gendered, ableist or homophobic slurs.
• Nudity & sexual content — upload, share, request or display nudity, partial nudity, sexually explicit content, pornography, sexually suggestive content, or unsolicited intimate images. Manzil is not an adult content platform.
• Commercial promotion — promote any business, service, multi-level-marketing scheme, cryptocurrency, gambling product, escort service, sugar arrangement, surrogacy arrangement, religious conversion, political party, NGO fundraising or paid relationship of any kind.
• Financial misconduct — solicit money, gifts, loans, dowry, bank details, UPI IDs, OTPs or cryptocurrency from any other user. Any romance scam, "investment opportunity", "emergency", "customs", "visa", "package" or "trading platform" pitch is grounds for permanent ban and reporting to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (cybercrime.gov.in).
• Illegal activity — use Manzil to commit, facilitate or promote any offence under Indian law, including but not limited to the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (the new criminal code), the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act 1956, the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985, the Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2002, the Dowry Prohibition Act 1961, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 ("POCSO").
• Prohibited content — post or transmit any content that is defamatory, obscene, paedophilic, invasive of another's privacy, insulting on the basis of gender, racially or ethnically objectionable, infringes any patent, trademark, copyright, or violates any law for the time being in force, as enumerated in Rule 3(1)(b) of the IT Rules 2021.
• Automation — use bots, crawlers, scrapers, automated swiping tools, modified clients, emulators or reverse-engineering tools against the Service.
• Security — circumvent, attack, probe or otherwise compromise the security of Manzil, its infrastructure, or any other user's account.

4. User-generated content & licence

You retain ownership of all original content you submit to Manzil, including profile photographs, your bio, videos, voice notes and chat messages ("User Content"). You confirm that you have all rights necessary to grant the licence below and that your User Content does not infringe the rights of any third party.

By submitting User Content, you grant Manzil a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, transferable, sublicensable licence to host, store, cache, copy, reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, distribute, publish and display that content, solely (a) to operate, improve, secure and promote the Service, (b) to enforce these Terms and our Child Safety Standards, and (c) to comply with applicable law including the IT Act 2000, IT Rules 2021 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act 2023"). This licence terminates when you delete the User Content or your account, subject to (i) reasonable backup retention periods and (ii) statutory retention obligations under Rule 3(1)(g) of the IT Rules 2021 (180 days for user records after account closure for the purpose of law enforcement).

You are solely responsible for your User Content. We do not pre-screen every piece of content, but we may remove any content that violates these Terms, our policies, or applicable Indian law.

5. Payment terms & subscriptions

Manzil offers monthly, quarterly (3-month), half-yearly (6-month) and annual premium subscriptions and discrete consumable in-app purchases (such as Super Likes, Boosts and call-minute top-ups). All payments are processed through the Google Play Store billing system or, where available, the Apple App Store billing system; Manzil does not directly collect or store your payment instrument details. All prices are listed in Indian Rupees (INR) inclusive of applicable Goods and Services Tax (GST) at the rate notified by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs ("CBIC").

• Auto-renewal. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• How to cancel. You can cancel any time in your Google Play (Subscriptions → Manzil) or Apple App Store account settings. We cannot cancel store-billed subscriptions from our end; that is a function of the billing platform.
• Price changes. We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days' notice, communicated in-app or by email. The new price applies from your next renewal.

6. Refund policy (India)

The following refund policy applies in addition to (and does not override) any statutory consumer rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020. Wherever Google Play's or Apple's published refund policy is more generous, that policy will apply.

• Cooling-off (7-day window). For first-time purchasers of a monthly Manzil subscription, you may request a refund within seven (7) calendar days of purchase if you have not used any premium feature (no Super Likes sent, no Boosts activated, no "see who liked you" reveals consumed). After this 7-day window, monthly subscriptions are non-refundable.
• Quarterly & half-yearly plans. No refunds after 14 days of purchase. Within 14 days, a pro-rated refund (less premium features already consumed) may be issued at our discretion.
• Annual plans. If you cancel an annual subscription before the term ends, you may request a pro-rated refund for the unused full months remaining, less (a) the equivalent monthly-plan price for each used month, and (b) any premium features already consumed. Refund processing takes 7–14 working days through the original billing platform.
• Consumables. Super Likes, Boosts and call-minute packs are consumable digital goods. Once delivered to your account they are non-refundable, except where required by law or where there is a clear technical failure on our side.
• Bans for violations. If your account is terminated for a violation of these Terms (including but not limited to harassment, fraud, impersonation, CSAE, or commercial promotion), no refund will be issued for any unused subscription period.
• How to request a refund. Email info.flingo@gmail.com from your registered email with subject "Refund request" and your Google Play / App Store order ID. We will respond within 5 working days.

7. Termination

You may delete your Manzil account at any time from Settings → Delete Manzil Account; deletion is permanent and irreversible after a 30-day grace period during which we retain your data solely to allow you to restore your account if requested. We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if we believe, in our reasonable judgement, that you have violated these Terms, our Child Safety Standards, or any applicable law, or if your continued presence on Manzil poses a risk to other users, to Manzil, or to any third party. Termination does not entitle you to any refund except as expressly stated in section 6.

8. Dispute resolution & arbitration

Before initiating any formal proceedings, the parties shall attempt in good faith to resolve any dispute, controversy or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service through written negotiation by emailing info.flingo@gmail.com. If the dispute is not resolved within thirty (30) days of such notice, the dispute shall be finally settled by binding arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 as amended from time to time. The arbitration shall be conducted by a sole arbitrator appointed by Manzil with your consent (consent not to be unreasonably withheld), the seat and venue of arbitration shall be Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, and the language shall be English. The arbitration award shall be final and binding on the parties.

9. Governing law & jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of India, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Subject to the arbitration clause above, the courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka, India shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any matter not subject to arbitration, including without limitation interim or injunctive relief.

10. Compliance with Indian law

Manzil is an "intermediary" within the meaning of section 2(1)(w) of the IT Act, 2000 and complies, to the extent applicable, with:

• The Information Technology Act, 2000 and rules made thereunder, including penal provisions under sections 66, 66C, 66D, 67, 67A and 67B.
• The Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, including (i) publication of these Terms, our Privacy Policy and our Rules & Regulations, (ii) prompt removal — within 36 hours where ordered, and within 24 hours for content depicting nudity, impersonation or sexual harassment under Rule 3(2)(b) — of unlawful content on receipt of a valid order or complaint, (iii) preservation of records for 180 days after account deletion, and (iv) Grievance Officer mechanism (see section 16).
• The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act 2023") — please review our Privacy Policy at /privacy-policy for details on lawful purpose, consent, data principal rights, retention, transfers and the role of our Data Protection Officer.
• The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 ("POCSO"). See our Child Safety Standards at /child_safety_standards.
• The Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020.
• Age verification obligations consistent with the IT Rules 2021 and Google Play's developer policies.
• Content-reporting and removal obligations for sexually explicit material, deepfakes, non-consensual intimate imagery and impersonation as required by Indian law.

11. Intellectual property

The Manzil name, logo, the verified-tick badge, the app interface, source code, design, copy, illustrations, animations and all underlying technology are the exclusive intellectual property of Manzil and its licensors and are protected by the Copyright Act, 1957, the Trade Marks Act, 1999, the Designs Act, 2000 and the Patents Act, 1970 of India, as well as by international intellectual property law. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right or licence to use the Manzil brand, logo or trademarks. You may not scrape, copy, mirror, reverse-engineer, decompile or create derivative works of any part of the Service.

12. Third-party services

The Service operates on top of third-party platforms and integrates third-party services, each governed by its own terms and privacy policy. Your use of those platforms is at your own risk and subject to their terms. These include without limitation:

• Google Play (distribution, billing, in-app purchases, age verification, account sign-in) — see Google Play Terms of Service.
• Firebase (authentication, real-time database, cloud messaging, crash analytics) — see Google Cloud / Firebase Terms.
• Razorpay / Cashfree / PayU where direct UPI checkouts are offered — governed by the respective payment aggregator terms.
• Twilio / Agora for in-app voice and video — governed by their messaging and communications policies.
• SendGrid / Amazon SES for transactional email.
• Cloudflare for content delivery and security.

Manzil is not responsible for the acts or omissions of any third-party service. Where a third-party service is unavailable, the Service or any feature may be unavailable as a consequence.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Manzil, its founders, directors, employees, contractors and agents from and against any and all third-party claims, demands, damages, losses, costs and expenses, including reasonable advocates' fees, arising out of or in connection with (a) your violation of these Terms or applicable law, (b) your User Content, (c) your interaction with any other user, on or off the Service, and (d) any misrepresentation made by you to Manzil or to any other user.

14. Disclaimers

Manzil is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted under Indian law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, satisfactory quality, non-infringement, and freedom from defects, viruses, errors or interruptions. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that any specific outcome (a match, a date, a marriage) will be achieved through your use of Manzil. Profile verification reduces the risk of fake accounts but does not guarantee the identity, character, intentions or background of any user. You are responsible for your own safety when interacting with other users on or off Manzil. Always meet first in a public place, tell a trusted person about your plans, and never send money or share OTPs.

15. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall Manzil, its affiliates, directors, employees, contractors or agents be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, loss of profits, loss of data, loss of goodwill, loss of opportunity or emotional distress, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Service, even if Manzil has been advised of the possibility of such damages. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Manzil's total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service in any twelve-month period shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you have paid to Manzil for the Service in the twelve months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) Indian Rupees five thousand (₹5,000).

16. Grievance Officer (IT Rules 2021)

In compliance with Rule 3(2) of the IT Rules 2021, Manzil has appointed a Grievance Officer to address complaints from users and aggrieved persons:

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to our Service, our business, applicable law or platform policy. When we make material changes, we will (a) update the Effective Date at the top of this page, (b) notify you in-app or by email at least seven (7) days before the changes take effect, and (c) where required by law, seek your fresh consent. Your continued use of Manzil after the Effective Date constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

18. Severability & entire agreement

If any provision of these Terms is held by a court or arbitrator of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable, that provision shall be severed and the remainder of the Terms shall remain in full force and effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, our Child Safety Standards and any in-app community guidelines, constitute the entire agreement between you and Manzil regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
